Signature HealthCARE at The Courtyard inducts ‘hometown heroes’ into Hall of Fame

Nursing Home Inducts Hometown Heros into Hall of Fame

Signature HealthCARE (SHC) at The Courtyard recently honored several ‘hometown heroes‘ by inducting them into the facility’s Hall of Fame Café.

SHC at The Courtyard is one of 72 nursing communities operated by Louisville, Ky.-based Signature HealthCARE. The Hall of Fame Café concept was developed and launched companywide as a means of acknowledging the remarkable things residents and staff have accomplished in their lives.

SHC at The Courtyard’s recent honorees are:

Charles Dewey Hill (resident) – Owner, Hills Chevron in Sneads, Florida; proud member of the East Jackson County Lions Club and Gideon’s International; an active member of El Bethel Assembly of God; and President of both the East Jackson County Development Association and the Dykes Cemetary Association.

Betty Breland (resident) – Registered nurse for more than 50 years; developed and taught a “Candy Striper” class for Jackson Hospital; active member at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for more than 50 years; member of Marianna Woman’s Club; first female on grand jury in Jackson County, Florida.

Charles Junior Davis (resident) – Served in U.S. Army through World War II; served in U.S. Navy through Korean War; farmer and dairy worker, furniture maker, manager, cook and chef. He also loved fishing and playing guitar.

John Aster Miller (resident) – Served in U.S. Army during World War II; respected lifelong farmer; member of the Travelers Rest Free Will Baptist Church; member of the Shaddi Shrive Temple and Scottish Rite bodies; raised money for Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Louis S. Roberts III (community member) – Current Jackson County Sheriff and has served in law enforcement for more than 30 years; Marianna Police Chief for six-and-a-half years; Regional Chairman of the Florida Violent Crime Council; served on board for Marianna Kiwanis Club and Community Relations Board of Covenant Hospice.

The awards ceremony was followed by a reception, with food prepared by SHC at The Courtyard’s dietary staff. Family members of the sheriff and inductees were very thankful for the honor bestowed upon their loved ones.
